Summary, etc Sadullah Enverî, III. Mustafa, I. Abdülhamid ve III. Selim dönemlerinde aralıklı olarak 5 kez vakāyi’nüvislik ya da bugünkü ifadeyle “resmi devlet tarihçiliği” görevinde bulundu. Bu sırada Osmanlı tarihinin ana kaynaklarından biri olan oldukça hacimli üç ciltlik bir eser yazdı. Enverî Târîhi’nin 3. cildi, ağırlıklı olarak 1786-1787/ 1791-1792 Osmanlı-Rus ve Avusturya savaşlarına dair bilgiler içeriyor. Ayrıca savaş dışında bu döneme ait çeşitli bilgiler de eserde yer alıyor. Eserin ilk bölümünde, Sadullah Enverî’nin hayatıyla ilgili arşiv belgelerinden elde edilen veriler, diğer vakāyi’nüvislerin ve araştırmacıların yazdıklarıyla birleştirilerek yazarın biyografisi güçlendirilirken, 2. bölümde, Enverî’nin 3 ciltlik tarih kitabı tanıtılıyor ve eserin 1., 2. ve 3. ciltleri ile esere ait bilinen nüshalar detaylı bir şekilde inceleniyor. 3. bölümde ise 3. cildin kaynaklarına ait bilgiler yer almıyor. Ayrıca, burada geniş bir kitlenin ilgisini çekebilecek nitelikteki bilgiler derlenerek bir araya getiriliyor. Çalışma, Osmanlı tarihini anlamak ve konuyla ilgili çeşitli çalışmalar yapmak isteyenler için önemli kaynak metinlerden biri olarak nitelendiriliyor.
