Summary, etc Türkiye’de yaşlanma konusuna tıbbi bir yaklaşım hâkim. Yaşlıların sayısında artışların öngörüldüğü günümüzde, bu alana ait gerontolojik bilgi eksikliğinden yola çıkan İsmail Tufan, yaşlılığın sosyal gerçekliğini ortaya koyuyor.<br/><br/>Türkiye’de Yaşlılığın Yapısal Değişimi’nde Tufan, Talcott Parsons’ın sistem teorisinden yararlanarak Türkiye’de yaşlılığın sosyal sisteme entegrasyonunu tartışıyor ve yaşlılığın sosyal yapısını analiz ediyor. Demografik değişimlerin yaşlanma ve yaşlılığa etkilerini saptamak için toplumu sosyal bir sistem olarak inceliyor. Değişen nüfus yapısında yaşlılığın sistemsel sorunlarını ele alan Tufan, kitabını bir hizmet tasarım sistemi modeliyle bitiriyor. İsmail Tufan Osnabrück Üniversitesi Vetcha Fakültesi Gerontoloji Bölümünü bitirdi, uzun yıllar Almanya’da yaşadı. Psikoloji, psikoterapi ve pedagoji eğitimi aldı. 2006 yılında Akdeniz Üniversitesi bünyesinde Türkiye’nin ilk gerontoloji bölümünü kurdu. Aydın, Nazilli, İzmir, Ordu ve Dinar’da demans ve Alzheimer hastaları için ilk bakım modelini hayata geçirdi. Bu çalışmalarının sonucunda Tufan Çark Modelini geliştirdi. Nazilli’de, Türkiye İleri Yaş Araştırma ve Uygulama Merkezini kurdu. TÜBİTAK tarafından desteklenen Türkiye Gerontoloji Atlası araştırmasını yürüten İsmail Tufan, halen Akdeniz Üniversitesi Gerontoloji Bölümünde öğretim üyesidir.-backover-
