Summary, etc Dünyanın en ikonik mücevherlerinden Çelenk’in peşinde Osmanlı’nın ihtişamına ve Avrupa’daki etkilerine gizemli bir yolculuk.<br/><br/>İngiliz Amiral Lord Nelson’ın mücevheri Çelenk dünyanın ve İngiliz tarihinin en önemli ikonik elmaslarından biri olarak kabul ediliyor. 1798 yılında Nil Savaşı’nın ardından bu muhteşem elmas Nelson’a III. Selim tarafından hediye edildi. Çelenk bu savaşta ele geçirilen veya yok edilen Fransız gemilerini temsilen 13 parçadan oluşuyor. Ortadaki merkez elmas kıyafet üzerindeyken dönen bir saat mekanizması ile çalışıyor. Nelson, ömrü boyunca Çelenk’i şapkasında taşıdı ve bu efsane mücevher Avrupa’da bir moda çılgınlığı doğurdu. Öyle ki benzerlerini almak için sıraya girenler için seri kopyaları yapıldı.<br/><br/>Çelenk, Nelson’ın bir markası haline geldi. Trafalgar’dan sonra Nelson’ın ailesine miras kaldı ve Kraliçe Victoria’nın huzurunda takıldı. 1895 yılında bir müzayedede satıldı. Sonrasında bir şekilde Greenwich’teki Ulusal Denizcilik Müzesi’nin gözde sergi malzemelerinden biri oldu. 1951 yılında bir baskın sırasında ismi bilinmeyen bir hırsİz tarafından çalındı ve o gün bugündür ortada yok.<br/><br/>Çelenk’in olağanüstü serüvenini kaleme alan Martyn Downer dönemin Ottomania çılgınlığına da ışık tutuyor.
